Solar panels planned for the villa, not a standard package
Most installations in Jávea are retrofitted to an existing villa. The roof was rarely designed with solar in mind and it may combine pitched tiles, flat sections, terraces and several different orientations.
A useful design begins with the electricity profile and then works back to the roof. Pool pumps, daytime air conditioning, water heating and home working can all make direct use of solar power. A larger array is not automatically better if much of its production cannot be used or stored.
Roof orientation, shading and usable space
A clear south-facing roof is helpful, but it is not the only workable option. East and west-facing panels can spread production across the morning and afternoon. That can suit a villa whose consumption rises at either end of the day.
Jávea properties often have shading from mature pines, palms, chimneys, neighbouring buildings or the Montgó itself. A shadow that looks minor from ground level can affect production for a meaningful part of the day. The survey checks the shading pattern as well as the number of panels that physically fit.
Flat roofs allow the panel angle to be controlled, although spacing and wind loading must be considered. On tiled roofs the mounting system and condition of the roof matter as much as the panel layout.
Matching solar production to daily electricity use
The most valuable solar electricity is usually the electricity used in the property as it is generated. A pool filtration cycle can often be moved into the middle of the day. Cooling the house while solar production is strong can also reduce evening demand.
A full-time home, a summer holiday villa and a property left empty for long periods have very different load profiles. We use bills and a discussion about how the property is occupied to avoid designing around an unrealistic average.
Inverters, monitoring and future changes
The panels are only one part of the installation. The inverter must suit the array layout, electrical supply and any plan for battery storage. Complex or partly shaded roofs may justify an Enphase microinverter system while a clean roof can often use a simpler string arrangement.
Monitoring should show owners whether the system is producing normally and how much energy is being used, exported or stored. If an electric vehicle, heat pump or solar battery is likely later, it is better to allow for that during the first solar system design than to discover the original equipment cannot accommodate it.
Installation on an occupied or holiday property
Roof access, cable routes and the position of the inverter are agreed before work starts. The aim is a tidy installation with protected cable runs and equipment placed where heat, ventilation and future maintenance have been considered.
For owners who are not in Spain throughout the year, remote monitoring provides a practical way to check performance between visits. The handover should also make clear what the owner can see in the monitoring app and who to contact if production changes unexpectedly.
